gears and bolts and hinges

gears and bolts and hinges p109_opt.jpg

what scares me most

     not him

the whole system tapped

all trapped

straining    listless

   carved up

if it slips,

if it cracks,

– when it does –

all goes haywire

all words, including title, from page 109 of Shutter Island by Dennis Lehane. poem #97 of the First 100 Days series, and poem #26 for National Poetry Month.
